Second-Seeded Mohd. Ghufran & Top-Seeded Kajal Kumari of Mumbai claimed Men & Women singles Titles in the 11th Maharashtra State Ranking Prize Money Carrom Tournament 2019 organized by Shivaji Park Gymkhana under Mumbai District Carrom Association & Maharashtra Carrom Association at Shivaji Park Gymkhana.
Second-Seeded Mohd. Ghufran rose to challenge with a confident attacking game to record a hard-fought victory against Unseeded India No. 3 Rajesh Gohil of Thane. Mohd. Ghufran showed solid concentration and steely nerves to the sideline in form opponent Rajesh Gohil 21-25, 25-14, 25-11 in a tense three Game encounter to clinch the top honours. Mohd. Ghufran won the cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- & Trophy and Rajesh Gohil had to be content with a cash prize of Rs. 12,500/- and Trophy.
Meanwhile, Mohd. Ghufran booked his berth in the Final's by overcoming Sandeep Dive of Mumbai in a thrilling three-game encounter 15-25, 25-8, 25-16 to enter final . Rajesh Gohil of Thane in a overcame Amol Sawardekar of Mumbai in straight games 25-3, 25-10 to move into the Finals. Sandeep Dive of Mumbai knocked out Amol Sawardekar of Mumbai in straight games 25-10, 25-8 to claim third place & Cash prize of 8,000/-.
In the Women Single's final Mumbai's Top-Seeded Kajal Kumari prevailed over Second seeded Former SAARC & State Champion Ayesha Mohd. of Mumbai in a one-sided encounter 25-13, 25-15 to win the title & Cash prize of Rs. 8,000/- & Trophy for the second time. In third place match, Mitali Pimple of Mumbai Knocked out Neelam Ghodke of Mumbai in straight games encounters 25-22, 25-16.
Earlier in the Semi-finals, Ayesha Mohd. of Mumbai beat Neelam Ghodke of Mumbai 25-5, 25-16 & in other Semi-final Kajal Kumari prevailed over Mitali Pimple of Mumbai 25-13, 25-0 in a straight games encounter to enter finals.
In these three days Ranking Tournament 32 Nos. Synco Championship Carrom Boards, Synco Carrom Men & Jerry Stands were used. In the three-day ranking tournament, 15 breaks to finishes & 5 black to finishes were scored. Inter-National Umpires Shri. Ramesh Chavan & Suhas Karbhari were the chief referees.
In the glittering prize distribution ceremony Deputy Mun. Commissioner Shri. Sudhir Naik was the chief guest which was presided over by Shri. Avinash Kamat-Chairman, Shri. Phalgun Desai-Treasurer, Shri. Deepak Murkar-Vice Chairman, Shri. Sunil Ramchandran- Asst. Gen. Secretary, Shri. Mahendra Thakur-Trustee, Shri. Yogesh Powar-Secretary Indoor Games of Shivaji Park Gymkhana, Shri. Arun Kedar Secretary- MCA, Shri. Yatin Thakur - Secretary, MDCA were present.
