The Maharashtra government has decided to accord an award after former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to institutes that have excelled in the Information Technology Sector.
As the Minister of State for IT, Maharashtra, it fills my heart with pride to announce that MVA Govt. has declared an award on 20th August 2021 in the name of Late Shri. Rajiv Gandhi Ji to encourage organizations excelling in the IT sector in Maharashtra. #RajivGandhiAwards

Information Technology, a sub-division of the General Administration Department of the government, has selected the Maharashtra Information and Technology Corporation to identify institutions to give the award in the name of Rajiv Gandhi without any financial burden.
Under this, the award will be announced by the Maharashtra IT Corporation Limited (MAHA-IT) for the current year on August 20, 2021. However, the awards will be given by them after completing the criteria and selection process to identify the best performing institutions in the IT sector before October 30, 2021.
Whereas from next year, they will give the award to institutions every year on the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi on August 20.
The Shiv Sena had also voiced its discontent regarding the change in name of the Khel Ratna Award.
