The Mumbai Challengers took on the Punjab Steelers in the first game of the best of three sereis in the semi finals of the United Basketball Alliance (UBA) at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim, Panaji.
Mumbai had a formidable line up with Jagdeep Bains, Alex Scales and Inderbir Gill. Punjab were without their star performer Garry Gill who is down with illness. Mumbai beat Punjab 128-114 in a closely fought encounter. The semi-finals will feature the qualifying teams from the North and South Division, with Mumbai Challengers and Punjab Steelers qualifying from the North Division, and Pune Peshwas and Bengaluru Beast making it from the South. Each team played six games from their own division, with the table-toppers earning a semi-finals berth.
