National Cricket Club wins Vijay Manjrekar-Ramakant Desai T-20 cricket tournament

The finale of Vijay Manjrekar-Ramakant Desai T-20 cricket tournament was played on Sunday at Shivaji Park. The teams fighting for the title were Payyade Sports Club and National Cricket Club. In the nail-biting encounter, National Cricket Club defeated Payyade Sports Club by 2 runs. National Cricket club scored 168 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Ajinkya Belose scored quick fifty for his team. He made 51 runs off 30 balls. Payyade Sports Club scored 166 runs and fell short of two runs and the trophy.

 Sagar Mishra's knock of 59 runs went in vain. Winners were awarded cash prize worth Rs 1 lakh and the trophy. Runners-up received Rs 50,000 as the cash prize. Arun Yadav was adjudged Man of the Series and he received a cash prize of Rs 5,000. Ajinkya Belose for his smashing fifty bagged Man of the Match award and received Rs 3,000.

Present at the tournament to distribute the awards were Vikram Limye (Member Of Administrative Committee, BCCI),  Milind Sabnis (Trustee, Shivaji Park Gymkhana), Ramakant Desai's son Amok Desai, General Secretary Sanjeev Khanolkar and Assistant General Secretary Sunil Ramachandran were also present. The program was helmed under the aegis of Sanjeev Khanolkar. 

Vikram Limye addressed after the match saying, "This is a special moment for me. Great cricketers like Vijay Manjrekar and Ramakant Desai have contributed a lot to the Shivaji Park Gymkhana and national cricket team. It is a great pleasure for me to have an opportunity to attend the cricket tournament organised in their memory. I believe that Shivaji Park Gymkhana is my first home." Vikram Limaye was honoured by Gymkhana's working president Avinash Kamat. On the other hand, Vice-President Deepak Murkar honoured veterans cricketer Jaywant Jukar, Suhas Kadrekar and Ramakant Desai's brother Suresh Desai.
