Satish Sabnis Open Rapid Chess Championship back with its 5th edition

Shivaji Park Gymkhana and Satish Sabnis Foundation are back with the 5th edition of 'Satish Sabnis Open Rapid Chess Championship'.

The annual chess tournament under the wing of Mumbai City District Chess Association commences on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

The annual event is held in the memory of Satish Sabnis, who organised the International Chess Championship in the city for the first time in 1984. A national level chess player himself, Sabnis was president of the Maharashtra Chess Association and Vice President of the All India Chess Federation and manager for the Dubai – Chess Olympiad, which incidentally, was grandmaster Viswanathan Anand's first international chess tournament.

Registrations are open till March 9, 2018, at the SPG office (10.00 am. to 6.00 pm.)

Entry fee for the tournament-  ₹500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only.) Late Fee - ₹100/- (Rupees Hundred Only.)

Total Cash Prizes: ₹1,59,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Fifty-Nine Thousand Only.)
