Tendulkar fetes Paralympics' heroes

Mumbai - India's abysmal performance at Rio Olympics was compensated by the team sent for Rio 2016 Paralympics which returned with two golds, one silver and one bronze. The sterling feats received another shot in the arm with master blaster Sachin Tendulkar publicly acknowledging their achievements. On Monday, he felicitated Devendra Jhajharia (gold medal-javelin ), Mariappan Thangelu (gold medal-men's high jump), Deepa Malik (silver medal-women's shot put ) and Varun Singh (bronze medal-men's high jump) in Mumbai.
The medalists were presented with a cheque of Rs 15 lakh each, along with a smartphone, a laptop and free lifetime health insurance cover from Aster DM Healthcare. Tendulkar expressed gratitude for all those who supported this event and lauded the winners for showing grit and determination to overcome the challenges they faced on their journey. Winners of previous Paralympics were also felicitated at this event.
