JBL Launches Premium CLUB Series Noise-Cancelling Headphones in India

Following the domination of Apple AirPods in the noise-cancelling earbuds/headphones space, JBL by Harman has introduced three new high-end headphones serving a large segment of the audiophiles segment.

All three wireless headphones are equipped with JBL Pro Sound and Personi-Fi while features like Ambient Aware and TalkThru technology allow listeners to be aware of their environment midway through playback.

CLUB 700BT

The entry-level model in the CLUB series has an on-ear design, which basically means that it provides less suction as compared to over-the-ear headphones.

Though there’s no active noise cancellation included in the CLUB 700BT, it has dual microphones to combat external noise during phone calls.

This model also has a dedicated Bass-Boost button to help enhance bass performance without accessing the source device. The 700BT has a remarkable battery life of 50 hours as per JBL.

CLUB 950NC

The CLUB 950NC sits between the entry-level and the top-end variant in the series. This comes included with ANC (active noise cancellation) and can reportedly run for around 55 hours on a single charge.

However, the battery life while ANC is enabled shrinks down to 25 hours. The Bass-Boost button is present here too which are complemented by other playback controls on a touch-sensitive panel.

CLUB One

The most expensive model in the lineup, the CLUB One is a high-end studio-grade headphone with noise-cancelling and additional features like True Adaptive Noise Cancellation which monitors environmental sound up to 50,000 times per second to provide better noise cancelling in noisy environments.

Additionally, the company mentions that this technology also makes up for other factors responsible for sound leakage including wearing glasses or the movement of the head (while jamming to music too hard). The battery life here is not as impressive as the CLUB 950NC with an estimated 45 hours of playback time reported which falls to 23 hours if ANC is enabled.

All three headphones will be available via online and retail outlets across India in addition to the company’s dedicated online store at jbl.com. However, online retailers like Amazon appear to be shipping the headphones faster than JBL’s online store, which comes as a bit of a surprise.

As for pricing, the JBL CLUB 700BT currently costs Rs 9,999, while the CLUB 950NC will have a selling price of Rs 14,999. The top-of-the-line CLUB One will sell for Rs 24,999, putting it almost on par with competitors like the Bose 700 that has set the gold standard for noise cancellation and microphone quality.

The prices mentioned above are inclusive of a Rs 5,000 discount on the original asking price, suggesting that this may be promotional prices.
