Popular entertainment and ticketing platform, BookMyShow, has been presenting interesting and unique LIVE events to the audience across India. This time, the team is keen on bringing the biggest celebration of art, culture and storytelling - The Great Indian Theatre Festival.

Set to be the largest ever celebration of Indian theatre in the country, The Great Indian Theatre Festival (TGITF) will showcase over 50 plays, which will be performed across 25 plus cities in India. It is curated not only to cater to theatre-loyalists but also first-time theatre-goers. The aim is to bring together more than 50 of India’s finest actors live on stage through 150 plus shows starting February 22, 2020.

The 5 month-long festival will travel to various Indian cities including Jaipur, Pune, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Indore, Bhopal, Surat, Bhubaneswar, Goa and Kochi to name a few through its journey.

The Great Indian Theatre Festival will launch with a grand premiere in Mumbai with veteran actor Zeenat Aman’s return to theatre with Dearest Bapu, Love Kasturba’ before moving to Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Vadodara, Chennai and Kolkata. The play marks Zeenat Aman’s comeback to theatre after a 15-year hiatus.

Presented by RBL Bank, The Great Indian Theatre Festival features names like Shabana Azmi, Kumud Mishra, Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Rakesh Bedi, Shikha Talsania, Mandira Bedi, Samir Soni, Jim Sarbh, Ranvir Shorey, Neil Bhoopalam, Lillete Dubey, Kitu Gidwani, Sandhya Mridul, Arif Zakaria, Suchitra Pillai, amongst others.

The team has also planned an impressive line-up of productions with unique voices that are a reflection of the times that we live in. This spectrum, which mirrors the evolution of Indian Theatre, includes plays such as Macbeth, Hamlet, Nothing Like Lear, I Don’t Like It As You Like It, Hello Zindagi, Dhumrapan, Shikhandi, A Few Good Men, August - Osage Country, Ovee - The Haunted Hostel, Salaam Noni Aapa and Mirror Mirror, to name a few.
