The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor project led by National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has achieved a major milestone. The construction of 100 km bridge along with 250 km pier work is an important step towards the realisation of high-speed rail network.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw showcased the progress of the project through a video update shared on November 23. "Progress of Bullet Train Project: Till date: 21.11.2023 Pillars: 251.40 km, Elevated Super-Structure: 103.24 km," the Union Minister announced on X.
NHSRCL, in an official statement, informed the completion of 100 km of viaducts achieved through the launch of 40 meter long full span box girders and segment girders. 250 km ghat work has been successfully completed.
Moreover, Full Span Launching technique (FSLM), where 40 mtrs long box girders are launched through state-of-the-art launching equipment, are being used along with Span by Span launching of segments.
FSLM is 10 times faster than the launching through Span by Span method, which is normally used for constructing metro viaducts
The laying of first Reinforced Concrete (RC) track bed for the MAHSR corridor track system as used in Japanese Shinkansen has also started in Surat. This is for the first time, the J-slab ballastless track system is being used in India.
Additionally, breakthrough of first mountain tunnel of 350 meter in Valsad district of Gujarat has been completed. First steel bridge of 70 metres length has been erected in Surat district, Gujarat.
This is the first of the 28 steel bridges which will be the part of MAHSR corridor. The installation of noise barriers has already started on the constructed viaduct. Breakthrough of first mountain tunnel of 350 m has been completed in Valsad district, Gujarat.
