On Tuesday, June 1, Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab announced a financial aid of INR 5 lakh each for the nominees of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees who died of the coronavirus in case they are not eligible under the aid scheme by the state government.

Parab further announced the extension of the scheme of INR 50 lakh financial aid for the families of MSRTC employees who died due to coronavirus infection till June 30, 2021. The state government had already extended the deadline till June 30 from December 31, but the MSRTC had so far not extended it.

The first wave of the coronavirus affected a large number of emergency services personnel. This included health workers, cleaners, police personnel. At the same time, many in the ST Corporation were infected with COVID-19.

On the other hand, in a recently taken decision, the ST Corporation has planned on setting up charging stations across 10 ST stations in the state. Reports state that, over the next few months, a total of 50 charging stations will be set up at Pune, Solapur, Nashik, Aurangabad and Kolhapur.

As of now, the government offices are restricted with 15 per cent manpower, due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and as a result, not many firms have been able to respond to the tenders related to electric buses, which were floated two weeks back.
