Every day passengers commuting via the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses are left guessing the timings of the bus. On occasions when the buses are running late, the passengers do not understand whether to wait or find another option to travel, which causes trouble for the office-goers. However, in order to overcome the shortcomings, the bus corporation decided to launch a mobile application.
Thus, on Monday, September 9, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray launched the transport company's app, 'BEST Pravas' which will assist the passengers to have a smooth journey. One of the foremost features of the application is that it will show the bus' location in real time, thus informing the passengers about the whereabouts of their ride.

The mobile app was launched in presence of Cabinet Minister Arvind Sawant, Mumbai Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, BEST Committee President Anil Patankar, amongst various eminent political figures. A whopping ₹112 crore has been spent for the resourceful Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS).
Another distinct feature of the app is that it will allow the user to learn about the nearest bus stand. Once the user enters his/her current location, the app will display the whereabouts of the nearest bus depot. The app will also show the route of the user's journey. Working on the Global Positioning System (GPS), the new application is sure to be a helping hand for the passengers.
