BEST starts new e-AC bus services from Mumbai Airport to Thane

The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) announced two new AC electric bus routes -- one from Chhatrapati Shivaji Mumbai International Airport (T2) to Thane and the other from CSMT to Bhaucha Dhakka, also known as Mazagaon dock. It started the operations from November 1, 2021.

The minimum fare will be INR 50, while the maximum fare on the Airport-Thane route will be INR 125.

As per reports, the Airport-Vashi route too will have six services starting from the Airport and another six services will start from Vashi. 

The two buses will cater to demand from commuters on these two routes. In addition, the transport body also resumed AC electric buses from airport to Borivali and Vashi from November 1. These buses will run till Borivali and Vashi respectively.

The minimum fare will be INR 50, while the maximum fare on the Airport-Borivali route will be INR 100 and for the Airport-Vashi route, it will be INR 150.

In addition, recently two dedicated bus routes from the airport to south Mumbai and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) were introduced.

Meanwhile, experts stated that this shall give a tough competition to aggregator cabs like Uber and Ola.

The authorities are planning to include more and more electric buses in the fleet. By March 2023, BEST aims to have a 50 per cent electric bus fleet and by March 2027 all the buses in the fleet will be electric.
