What's the story?

BEST workers union has announced an indefinite strike in Mumbai from October 21 as they have been denied Diwali bonus this year.

As reported in TOI, the earlier Rakshabandhan strike had affected the city badly. This is what Union leader Shashank Rao had to say.

The workers had received a bonus for the last two years and this year, the management has refused to pay Diwali bonus. This is uncalled for and we will protest if the money is not paid to workers by Diwali which falls on October 20. There will be indefinite agitation and workers will voluntarily not report to work the next day — which is Bhaubeej."

Civic workers will be receiving a bonus this year as chief Ajoy Mehta announced earlier but BEST employees were denied bonus.
