Bonus is given to the employees of Municipal Corporation and BEST every year on the occasion of Diwali and this year is no different. This year too, bonuses have been declared for these employees. A few days ago, 15,500 bonus was announced to NMC officials. On the same lines, BEST employees will get Rs 10,100 as a bonus. Last year Rs 9,100 was given as a bonus and in 2018 Rs 5,500.

The announcement for this bonus was made by Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar at a press conference held at her residence in Byculla on Wednesday.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the revenues have dipped but BMC has decided to reward the staff and employees of BEST.

Earlier demand was made by civic officials to receive a Diwali bonus. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) paying heed to the same had announced last week that it will provide a festive bonus to all staff barring those who are hired on a contractual basis. The civic body said that the bonuses will stretch between INR 2,350 and INR15,500 depending on the employee tier.

It’s worth mentioning that a large bulk of the civic workforce, as well as doctors and police personnel, have been at the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic in Mumbai and across the State.

Recently, a police organization demanded the government to provide bonuses to the male and female police officers for Diwali. However, there’s currently no clarity from the State on this front.
