Mumbai: BEST To Discontinue Issuing Paper Tickets To "These" Passengers

The BEST informed the public on social media that tickets and bus passes are issued on Chalo App as a digital initiative to make it paperless. The app has the facility to buy tickets from mobile wallet or with the help of bank transfer/UPI money.

In a latest development, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has decided to discontinue issuing of the paper tickets in buses for passengers using Chalo Mobile tickets and Passes. This will come into effect from February 14, 2022. 

As per official statement released by the transport corporation, bus conductor validated mobile ticket details will be generated on Mobile app.


The BEST informed the public on social media that tickets and bus passes are issued on Chalo App as a digital initiative to make it paperless. The app has the facility to buy tickets from mobile wallet or with the help of bank transfer/UPI money.

Moreover, it has come to light that passengers have been demanding a physical ticket to be issued to them after showing the bus ticket purchased on the Chalo app.

On December 21, the BEST unveiled the ‘Chalo App’ and ‘Chalo Bus Card’. This initiative was launched to bring in the new age of stress-free as well as convenient travel for locals in Mumbai. Maharashtra cabinet minister Aaditya Thackeray mentioned that the key features of the initiative include Mobile Tickets and Passes, Live Bus Tracking, Live Arrival Time, Live Crowd Indicator and Tap to Pay Smart Card.

Previously, an official from the BEST was quoted elaborating on how those who do not wish to purchase a ticket or bus pass through cash or mobile will have to acquire the BEST initiative, Smart Card.  

BEST has about 26 lakh daily passengers, of which 5,25,000 passengers have downloaded the Chalo app.
