Coming December, commuters will be able to travel from Goregaon to Panvel without changing local trains. By the year-end, the Western Railway (WR) is planning to start operating local train services between Goregaon and Panvel. Currently, suburban train services on WR are operational between Andheri and Panvel.
One of the senior WR officials said that they are working on introducing new services between Goregaon and Andheri in the new timetable which will be introduced by the year-end.

This year, the Harbour Railway extension from Andheri to Goregaon was completed and local train services started operating from April. This will also allow passengers to board a direct train from CSTM on Central Railway.

The extension work of the Western Railway-Harbour Line till Borivali will be manned by the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC), body (specially created for planning and execution of projects in suburban railway). The extension is likely to be completed by 2023.
