This ambitious project was announced by Union Railway Minister Piyush Goel during his visit to Mumbai. The work for the museum had already started but the workers from the central railway and other employees started the protest against the same.

Earlier, the railway administration did not pay much attention to the protest and the employees’ organisation chose to move to the court in this regard. However, R.P. Bhatnagar said that after meeting with the senior officials of Railway Administration in Delhi, Railway Employee’s Association received an assurance that the museum would not be made.

The Central Railway headquarters and other offices would have been shifted if the Museum were to be constructed. Now that it is not happening, the employees are happy. This building is connected with the spirit of the railway workers,” Bhatnagar added.

Earlier, the Railway Ministry had given only three months to vacate headquarter in the CSTM building and making a new headquarter would have cost billions of rupees.
