Passengers travelling in State Transport (ST) buses will have to bear charges for their luggage if the weight of the baggage exceeds 20 kg. The decision for the same was made by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). Accordingly, August 27 onwards, the passengers will be charged ₹5 to ₹100 depending on the distance of their journey.
Earlier, during July, the ST Corporation had increased the ticket fares for its passengers and now, the passengers will also have to bear expense for their luggage.
After the ST Corporation took the decision to levy charges on luggage weighing more than 20 kgs, they have asked the depots across the state to comply with the same. Whereas passengers who are carrying luggage weighing less than 20 kg, can travel without paying additional charges.
