On Thursday, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will be closed for two hours i.e. from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm for both commercial and non-commercial vehicles. The shutdown will take place as overhead gantry will be installed between Rasayani and Madap.

In order to avoid traffic on a weekday, authorities have decided to divert the traffic to the old highway.

Earlier, on September 6, 2018, an overhead gantry was installed at Khalapur Toll Naka. Even then, the traffic going towards Pune was kept closed from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Meanwhile, it is believed that a speed test on random vehicles will be conducted on the country's first Expressway that connects Mumbai to Pune. Attempts will be made to increase the speed limit on Mumbai-Pune Expressway from the existing 80-kmph to 100-kmph.

After the Centre recently allowed a maximum speed limit of 120-kmph on Expressways nationwide, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) was contemplating to increase the speed limit of vehicles plying on the Expressway.
