Mumbai has been experiencing nonstop rains for the last two days. It has now started to affect the daily lives of people. Operations at Mumbai Airport are now also getting affected. There is a delay of 45 minutes to an hour for all flights that are landing at or taking off from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Mumbai.
Indigo has already advised commuters to start well in advance and keep a close tab on the flight status.

There are news of traffic snarls from all parts of the city. Due to water-logging many trains are either running late or have been cancelled. In wake of IMD’s warning of heavy rainfall for the rest of the day, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to keep the schools shut today.

As per the IMD forecast, Mumbai will continue to get heavy rain at isolated places till September 6. As a matter of fact, an ‘orange alert’ with forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall has also been issued for September 6. For those unaware, orange alert is issued when there are chances of extremely bad weather with the potential of disruption in commute with road and rail closures. There is also potential for power cuts in an orange alert. During this alert, people should be ready for evacuation and have food packets and other emergency material ready.
