Last year on December 25, for the first time in India, Indian Railways introduced AC local train on Western Railway (WR) line. On Christmas this year, the AC local train completed one year of functioning. Initially, commuters didn't utilise the service due to high fares. However, gradually, people started commuting in AC local trains and demanded additional stops as well.

Likewise, WR decided to halt the train at additional stations which in turn helped WR to earn ₹33.76 lakh.

Initially, AC local train used to halt at Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra, Andheri, Borivali, Bhayander and Vasai Road stations. Later, commuters asked for additional halts, likewise, WR made AC local trains take a halt at Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road, Dahisar, Mira Road, Naigaon and Nalasopara from November 1 on both up and down line. 

Between December 1 and 20, WR sold 2700 tickets and 34,000 commuters travelled in AC local train. In the span of 20 days, WR earned ₹14.08 lakh.
