Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab has appealed the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees, who are on indefinite hunger strike, to resume their work amid festive season.

Transport Minister Parab also urged the workers to start their work immediately in order to avoid inconvenience to the general public during Diwali and to maintain the credibility of the public.

After the staff warned of agitation, Anil Parab proclaimed a “Diwali bhet” or a Diwali gift for the 93,000 ST employees.

Based on accounts, whilst officers will attain INR 5,000 respectively as a Diwali gift, the others will attain INR 2,500 for the festivity. Parab is also claimed to have stated that the dearness allowance (DA) for all the workers will be increased by 5 per cent, causing the numbers to increase from the current 12 per cent to 17 per cent.

Additionally, MSRTC employees will receive their salary for October on 1 November. Generally, they attain their pay on every month’s seventh.

In a recently reported shocking incident, a driver identified as Dilip Haribhau Kakade, working with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) hung himself and committed suicide. It is being said that the incident occurred on October 29, 2021, in the state transport bus which was present at Ahmednagar's Shevgaon depot.
