The schools and colleges have reopened in Mumbai on Oct 4, and hence CR wrote a letter to the Maharashtra government seeking guidelines for issuing tickets to students wanting to travel by train.

On Tuesday, October 5, Central Railways wrote a letter to the state government seeking SOPs for issuing tickets to students wanting to travel by train since the schools and colleges have reopened in Mumbai.

Addressing the letter to the disaster management authority undersecretary, it sought guidelines for issuing tickets and seasonal passes to the students wishing to travel by local train.

The letter states the students are requesting journey/ season tickets while visiting UTS counters over the Mumbai division. However, there are no guidelines given for the students to travel by local train in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Central Railways (CR), in the letter, has urged the Maharashtra government to issue guidelines so the students can travel by train. 

Mumbai local trains have resumed their operation for fully vaccinated people from August 15. The Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, had announced that the local train services for the general public will be resumed for fully vaccinated citizens and have completed 14 days. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, October 5, Maharashtra Transport Commissioner issued SOPs for school buses, instructing that only 50% occupancy should be there in each bus.
