The state government of Maharashtra, on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, announced new guidelines for international travelers visiting Maharashtra. As per the statement released by the government, all the passengers will be required to undergo RTPCR testing at their own cost, once they arrive at the airport.
The decision has been taken keeping the rising coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and newly identified strains in mind. Directives for the same were also issued from the Central Government and reports state that the same will be applicable for passengers traveling to India by air from the UK, Europe, Middle East, South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, and Zimbabwe. These revised guidelines will be implemented from the midnight on September 3, 2021.

Information regarding the same was shared on Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) official Twitter handle. The message read, "In view of new mutations, pax arriving at Mumbai Airport from UK, Europe, Middle East, South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe shall be mandatorily subjected to self-paid RTPCR Test on arrival."
Officials further added that all the international passengers will be required to undergo RTPCR test at their own cost upon arrival at Mumbai Airport.
