Fares for shared taxis from Mumbai to Nashik, Shirdi and Pune have been increased by INR 50 to INR 200 depending on the route. The date of implementation of these revised fares is yet to be decided. It is likely to be implemented from next month, RTO sources said.


The revised fare charts will soon be displayed at various intercity taxi stands like Dadar, Borivali, Sion etc. The fare revision was approved based on the formula prepared by the BC Khatua panel for taxis and auto rickshaws. Earlier this month, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) approved fare revisions for share black-yellow non-AC taxis and blue-silver AC taxis plying on these three routes.

For AC taxi travel, passengers travelling from Mumbai will have to pay 100 more for Nashik and 200 more for Shirdi, while they will have to pay 50 more for AC and non-AC taxi travel to Pune. The revised fare for AC taxis on Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Shirdi routes will be INR 575 and INR 825, respectively, instead of INR 475 and INR 625, respectively. The fare for non-AC taxis on the Mumbai-Pune route will be INR 500 instead of INR 450 and for AC taxis it will be INR 575 instead of INR 525.

Mumbai-Pune taxi route is 155 km long, while Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Shirdi are 175 km and 265 km respectively. The MMRTA revised the taxi fares on the Mumbai-Pune route three years ago, but the taxi fares on the Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Shirdi routes remained unchanged since September 2013.
