Fares for shared taxis from Mumbai to Nashik, Shirdi and Pune have been increased by INR 50 to INR 200 depending on the route. The date of implementation of these revised fares is yet to be decided. It is likely to be implemented from next month, RTO sources said.
The revised fare charts will soon be displayed at various intercity taxi stands like Dadar, Borivali, Sion etc. The fare revision was approved based on the formula prepared by the BC Khatua panel for taxis and auto rickshaws. Earlier this month, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) approved fare revisions for share black-yellow non-AC taxis and blue-silver AC taxis plying on these three routes.
Mumbai-Pune taxi route is 155 km long, while Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Shirdi are 175 km and 265 km respectively. The MMRTA revised the taxi fares on the Mumbai-Pune route three years ago, but the taxi fares on the Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Shirdi routes remained unchanged since September 2013.
