Western Railway recovered a fine worth ₹10 Cr in the month of February by taking action against ticketless travellers. The WR officials took action against 89,000 ticketless travellers and recovered a fine worth ₹10.95 Cr.

WR officials believe that instances such as ticketless travelling, handing over season tickets to other commuters are increasing day by day. Hence, the WR has decided to continue taking action against such commuters.

From April 2017 to February 2018, the WR took action against ticketless travellers by registering 23 lakh complaints and recovered a fine worth ₹99.33 Cr.


I urge commuters not to travel without a ticket as it is a punishable offense,” Ravinder Bhakar, CPRO, WR.
