On Wednesday, July 8, 2020, legendary Bollywood actor Jagdeep passed away in Mumbai. He was 81, and the reason for his demise is not known yet. An official statement has not been released by the family
Jagdeep was born on March 29, 1939, as Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, and was seen in more than 400 Bollywood films. He was known for his role as 'Soorma Bhopali' in Blockbuster film, Sholay. Besides this, his work in films like Andaz Apna Apna, Brahmachari, Afsana, Purana Mandir and many others was also recognised and appreciated.
His children Jaaved Jaaferi and Naved Jafri also gained popularity in the industry as actors, dancers, and producers. He also a daughter from his second wife Nazima.
Several actors took to Twitter to share their condolences. Ajay Devgn wrote, "Heard the sad news of Jagdeep Saab’s demise. Always enjoyed watching him on screen. He brought so much joy to the audience. My deepest condolences to Jaaved and all members of the family. Prayers for Jagdeep Saab’s soul."
