Mumbai Police arrests TV actor Pearl V Puri for allegedly raping a minor girl

As per reports, Waliv Police in Vasai arrested Pearl V Puri and five others under POSCO Act. It is said that the victim (17) and her family filed a complaint against the actor regarding the incident.

Mumbai Police, in the night on Friday, June 4, 2021, arrested popular TV actor, Pearl V Puri, in connection with the rape of a minor, 17 year old. As per reports, the actor was arrested in Vasai under POSCO Act.

Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar's DCP (Zone 2), Sanjay Patil, confirmed the details of his arrest and said that this was an old incident, but that of a 17 year old who visited the police station recently with her mother, to file a complaint. The case was registered under under Section 376 (rape) of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. 

The actor has been in police custody, however, other details were not shared.

The report was first published by Bollywood Bubble in the night on Friday, and the official statement from the police was released in the morning on Saturday, June 5, 2021. It is being said that five others were also arrested in the matter. 

Another report published in the India Today said that the actor was arrested after a case was filed at the Malwani Police Station by the victim's and her family, who complained that the actor raped her in the car and this was also followed by all the accused. 

Interrogation regarding the matter is underway.

Following this, Pearl's fans and well-wishers took to social media to extend their support. Actress Anita Hassanandani wrote, "Woke up to some nonsensical news bout @pearlvpuri. I know him! It is NOT true ... canNOT be true.... all lies. I’m sure there is more to it. And the truth will be out soon.
