Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said that Maharashtra government plans to build 20,000 houses for state’s police force as a part of the redevelopment plan.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, CM Fadnavis informed that ₹208 crore loan will be assigned to the police employees and the interest for the loan will be paid by the state government. Along with this, under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana, the police employees will also be eligible to get a house.

Public Works Development (PWD) regularly monitors the service residence of the police officials and employees. The state government has planned to redevelop old and disrupted colonies of the police officers. It has also decided to provide land and extended carpet area for the houses.

A joint meeting, consisting of police colonies will be held in the next 15 days in Mumbai. Until now, the work for 3,698 houses has been started with the help of Police Housing Development and Kalyan Mahamandal. The administration has given approval to almost 5,821 residences and works for 20,282 houses is in progress with the aim to complete the same by the year 2019.
