According to reports, nearly 98 lakh citizens throughout Maharashtra are yet to take their first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19. Thus, the health authorities have asked the district administration to augment the drive and ensure that those left out are vaccinated, claim accounts. 

In the state there are almost 9.2 crore residents aged 18 and over, cite narratives. The first dose of vaccine has been administered to nearly 8.6 crore beneficiaries in accordance with the data available on January 10, mentioned reports. Therefore, the health authorities are looking to cover all the eligible beneficiaries promptly. 

On January 8, the Maharashtra government brought in force certain curbs considering the rise in coronavirus cases. Moreover, the drive for the administration of the precautionary doses began on Monday, January 10.

According to reports, Thane, Nashik, Jalgaon, Ahmednagar and Nanded led the list of the maximum number of unvaccinated people. Health officials have also remarked that a large proportion of those infected with the novel virus and are admitted to the hospital especially in key cities are unvaccinated. 

On the other hand, in the past 11 months, 6 per cent of the 4,575 which is 255 COVID-19 deaths in Mumbai were amongst those that had attained at least one dose of the vaccine against coronavirus, narratives stated.
