The issue of toll is heating up in Maharashtra. While the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party has started cornering the government on the issue of toll, Congress too started talking about it. MNS chief Raj Thackeray had accused the state government and said that the toll collection is the biggest scam and the state government should give information about where the toll money is being spent.

After this allegation by Raj Thackeray, now Congress has also raised questions regarding the money received from toll. Mumbai Congress State President Varsha Gaikwad has demanded that an investigation be conducted as to where the toll money is spent.

What did Congress say?

Mumbai Congress President Varsha Gaikwad raised the question that "State Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has admitted corruption in toll collection itself. When Devendra Fadnavis was in power, then the toll had been waived off at all the toll booths in the state." , And if the toll was still collected from lakhs of private four-wheeler driver-owners across the state, in whose pocket does it go?”

She said, “Where does the amount of hundreds of crores collected from toll every day go? Why is the condition of roads in the state so bad despite paying so much toll, why do people of the state not have access to infrastructure on roads, state highways"

Varsha Gaikwad also criticised, saying that there should be a high-level inquiry into where this money goes and the ED-loving BJP government at the Center should take strict action against those concerned on this question of public interest.
