Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has recently slammed Shiv Sena over the pothole issue in the city. Furthermore, they have questioned whether the warning to take action against the contractors was hogwash.

On Thursday, September 30, Ashish Shelar, BJP leader and former minister, while speaking to the media, questioned that CM is warning of action against contractors but has the Shiv Sena- led civic body taken any action?

He further accused Mumbai Mayor, saying that Mayor has claimed they have fixed 42,000 potholes; however, the civic body portal says they have fixed 927 potholes. In the last 25 years, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has spent Rs. 21,000 crore on road repairs and construction work, he added.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had held a meeting on Wednesday, September 29. He said that if potholes re-appear, he will take action against the contractor and the concerned officer who is in charge.

Citing the same, Shelar said it was hogwash and that no action was taken against the contractors. He mentioned that no probe was announced to check the materials used for road construction.

Shelar then targeted the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Supriya Sule, questioning why isn't she taking up the issue of potholes now. He reminded her about her "selfie with potholes" drive during the BJP led government in Maharashtra.

On Tuesday, September 29, Iqbal Singh Chahal had asked all BMC officials to fill the war footing potholes in two or three weeks.
