The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced water cut in parts of Andheri, Goregaon and Jogeshwari on September 22 and 23. The civic body said that the water pipeline will be diverted due to the ongoing work for Metro-2.

The metro work will be carried out from 5:30 PM on September 22 to 4:30 PM on September 23. According to media reports, in order to carry out the metro work, there will be a diversion of 1,200 mm diameter between pillar number 155 and 156 on Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR).

Therefore, the water cuts will be made in parts of Andheri, Goregaon and Jogeshwari. However, the residents in three BMC wards including K West, P South and K East won’t be left without the water supply.

The timing for water supply will be changed temporarily and will be at low pressure, the BMC informed. The citizens are advised to store water and consume it in a restricted manner.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) announced water cuts in Thane due to the ongoing work related to Metro construction in the city. The shutdown is to permit workers to work on Line 4 of the Mumbai Metro near Thane’s busy Majiwada junction.

The TMC has also asked the residents to store water and use it judiciously for two days as the demand for water would be high as the supply resumes in the areas which could further affect the flow of the water.
