Offer point-to-point transport for workers during the third COVID19 wave: Uddhav Thackeray

Ministers from the government and several entrepreneurs attended the online meeting to understand ways to keep the business operations functional during the third wave. CM Uddhav Thackeray guided the business owners regarding several aspects.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Friday, July 16, 2021, directed all the district collectors in the state to interact with the entrepreneurs in their districts and make a thorough plan for the industries to continue operations during the third coronavirus (COVID-19) wave. While addressing the officials, CM said that large companies should make arrangements for accommodation of their workers in the premises and those who are unable to do so should be assisted by the District Collector to ensure alternate facilities such as point to point transport system for workers is provided for the workers of these industries.

Sharing more details, CM said that while trying to prevent from the third wave, the industries in the state should continue operations by maintaining the the economic cycle. Besides Uddhav Thackeray, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Industry Minister Subhash Desai, Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Ashish Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to the Revenue Department Manukumar Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary to the Health Department Pradeep Vyas, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, Secretary to the Medical Education Department Saurabh Vijay, Director General of Police Sanjay Pandey, CII West Division Chairman Tyagarajan, Maharashtra Chairman Sudhir Mutalik and other dignitaries were present along with Director of Health Ramaswamy.

The event was also attended by Divisional Commissioners, Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, Police Officers and some representatives of the industry were present the the online meeting.

Industry Minister Subhash Desai said that the department is in constant touch with the entrepreneurs across the state and plans are being made to ensure operations continue even in the third wave. Meetings have been held with CII and other departmental organizations in the state and the government is working towards finding solutions to the obstacles. Minister Desai further emphasised that while the government is trying to receive more vaccines from the Centre, the companies should purchase vaccines from private hospitals with CSR funds and vaccinate their workers as well as the citizens from the surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, Minister Balasaheb Thorat said that measures would have to be taken at the earliest to ensure preparations are made before the third COVID wave. He expressed concerns regarding the rise in number of cases across a few districts in the state. He appealed to the entrepreneurs to vaccinate their workers from the 25 per cent quota of private hospitals and stated the need to increase the production of oxygen in the state.

The Divisional Commissioner also informed about the measures being taken through coordination and communication. Pradip Vyas presented the current COVID-19 status in the state and Coordinator Vikas Kharge informed the participants about the work of the task force that has been formed for industries in the state.
