Reports state that on Tuesday, the Maharashtra cabinet conferred the matter of pothole-hit roads and highways. Considering the heavy debate around this problem, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is expected to conduct a meeting with concerned senior officials on the evening of Wednesday, cites accounts.

On Friday, the Bombay High Court had questioned the Union as well as the state government to be serious about the problems of potholes along the Mumbai-Nashik Expressway, amongst the other highways in the state.

Some accounts have gone on to make claims that many ministers from the Cabinet in the state have voiced their discontent regarding the potholes issue during the meeting by citing their experiences. According to the report by the Indian Express, a cabinet minister stated that the state is being blamed for highways that aren’t within its purview, which includes the Mumbai-Goa highway.

Accounts elucidate that the Chief Minister mentioned that a meeting will be conducted of all the concerned agencies on Wednesday evening, during which a resolution could be undertaken on mending the obligation on engineers and on repairing potholes in a timely fashion.

There has been a heavy discussion surrounding potholes since the past few days, with the Kishori Pednekar on Monday, giving the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) a deadline to repair all potholes in 8-10 days. Additionally, on Tuesday, the civic chief, Iqbal Singh Chahal also asked the civic officials to potholes should be fixed in two to three weeks.
