Mumbai sees slight rise in the temperature at 15.6 degree Celsius

A day earlier, on January 10, the city recorded lowest minimum temperature in January in a decade. Meanwhile, the night temperature dropped by nearly five degrees in 24 hours.

The temperature in Mumbai has been dropping since sudden rain lashed the city on Saturday, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Mumbai saw a slight increase in the temperature at 15.6 degree Celsius on Tuesday, January 11 from the previous day (13.2 degree Celsius). The maximum recorded as per IMD's Santacruz and Colaba observatory are 25.1 and 25.7 degree Celsius respectively.

A day earlier, on January 10, the city recorded lowest minimum temperature in January in a decade. Meanwhile, the night temperature dropped by nearly five degrees in 24 hours.

However, the meteorological department has forecast further drop in temperature over the weekend. 

According to the seven-day forecast by IMD, the minimum and day temperatures are likely to rise from Wednesday.

As per weather department, in 2020, the temperature had dipped to 11.4 degrees Celsius. Whereas in 2013, the city recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 10.4 degrees Celsius, the lowest in the past decade.

However, these past records are from the entire month of January in those years. There is over half a month left and the city is likely to see a further drop in temperature. This trend will continue till the middle of this week, after which there will be a gradual increase in the temperature.

In addition, temperatures across Maharashtra also dropped due to heavy winds on Monday. January 10 with Nashik (7.3) and Jalgaon (9) recording less than 10 degree Celsius.
