Mumbai has been receiving heavy rainfall, leading to pothole-ridden roads across the city. Among the worst affected is the Mulund-Airoli road, where severe potholing has disrupted daily travel and caused serious traffic congestion.
Despite efforts by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to repair the road, potholes reappear within a day, raising concerns about poor-quality repairs. This stretch, which sees heavy daily traffic, has become particularly dangerous, prompting fears of accidents.
Passengers, drivers, and local residents have raised numerous complaints. Many are now demanding that the road be concretized as a permanent fix.
“There are potholes everywhere, and even after repairs, they reappear the next day,” said Chaitanya Chandratre, a daily commuter and school bus driver. “What used to be a 20-minute journey now takes 35–45 minutes. We’re all suffering.”
The issue is even more pressing because many students from Mulund travel to schools in Airoli, with school buses using this road regularly. Poor road conditions are making the journey longer and riskier.

When contacted, MSRDC Joint Managing Director (2) Rajesh Patil said that instructions had been issued before the monsoon to repair all roads under MSRDC in Mumbai, including the Mulund-Airoli stretch. He acknowledged the complaints and assured that the potholes will be filled immediately.
