Mumbai Division of Central Railway (CR) has significantly increased the number of shifts of Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters, aimed at providing greater convenience and satisfaction to our valued passengers.

As on October 10, 2023, CR’s Mumbai Division has operated 803 shifts, as compared to the 691 counters in operation on November 4, 2022. This substantial expansion has resulted in improved customer satisfaction and enhanced passenger comfort.

To achieve this commendable milestone, the division implemented a series of measures to optimise UTS operations:

- Chief Booking Supervisors (CBS) and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) personnel have been advised to maximize their staff allocation for counter duty, reducing congestion at booking counters.

- Commercial Cum Ticket Clerks (CCTC) are now deployed as per station requirements. During peak periods, they can be utilised for counter duty to expedite ticketing services.

- Staff rationalisation efforts involved reallocating resources from parcel and goods depots to booking counters, ensuring the highest number of UTS counter shifts for the general public.

- With the exception of CNC, CBS/G, and CBS/cash roles, all other CBS are available for counter duty, further augmenting service availability.

- No counter shift can be closed without a valid reason and prior authorisation from the competent authority.

- Incentives in the form of awards and appreciation letters have been instituted to recognise booking clerks achieving exceptional ticket sales during each month.

- Adequate printers and other essential peripherals have been supplied to all stations, guaranteeing seamless counter operations. Maintenance protocols, including timely equipment repairs, have been established, with the Commercial Control and Monitoring Cell available for assistance.

- The division is committed to minimising UTS equipment downtime, ensuring swift rectification processes.

- Regular meetings with CBS and Chief Commercial Inspectors (CCIs) at the divisional level are conducted to assess operational challenges in the booking office. Sectional CCIs are mandated to maintain daily counter/shift records for their respective sections.

- ongoing station inspections by officers are conducted to uphold efficient booking office operations.

CR’s Mumbai Division remains dedicated to providing an exceptional travel experience for all passengers. These strategic measures underscore our commitment to customer-centric service and further strengthen our position as a leading railway division.
