To make the travel of Mumbaikars and Ganesh devotees more convenient and safe during Ganeshotsav, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has made a major change in the timings of Metro 3, also known as Aqua Line. From September 14 to September 25, 2026, Metro-3 service will continue till 12 midnight.
The last metro departing from both the Cuffe Parade and Aarey JVLR terminal stations will now depart at 12 midnight. Currently, the last metro from these stations departs at 10.30 pm. This means that devotees will get an additional 90 minutes of travel time during Ganeshotsav.
It will be convenient to reach many famous Ganesh Mandals in Siddhivinayak, Dadar, Worli, Mahalaxmi and Girgaon areas through Metro 3. Due to this, devotees will be able to travel by Metro, avoiding the hassle of traffic jams on the roads to visit Ganesh Mandap for darshan.
MMRC has also given special permission to devotees traveling by Metro with Ganesh idols. Ganesh idols up to 18 inches i.e. 45 centimeters high will be able to be carried in the metro by following safety rules.
A large number of devotees come out of their homes during Ganeshotsav. Therefore, the decision to provide metro services till late night will be important for the devotees.
Therefore, if you are planning to visit the famous Ganesh Mandals in Mumbai this year, Metro 3 will reduce traffic worries and you will be able to travel back by 12 midnight.
