The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has issued show-cause notices to 8,212 housing projects across the state for failing to submit mandatory quarterly progress reports.
Developers are required to update project details every three months, including information on flat bookings, funds received, expenditure, and any changes in building plans. However, a large number of projects failed to upload these updates for the January–March period.
Taking serious note of the non-compliance, the authority has warned that failure to respond within 60 days could lead to strict action, including suspension or cancellation of project registration, along with financial penalties.
Out of the total projects served notices, a significant number are from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Konkan belt, followed by Pune and other parts of Maharashtra.
MahaRERA officials stated that the move is aimed at ensuring transparency and protecting homebuyers from potential fraud. The authority has reiterated that strict action will be taken against developers who fail to comply with regulatory norms.
