The latest guidelines brought a major relief to the Mumbaikars as local train services, which is Mumbai's lifeline, will also resume for fully vaccinated individuals. However, a penalty of INR 500 and further action will be taken against non-vaccinated travellers.

It comes as no surprise that the majority of the citizens have given their due to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government for making a landmark decision and allowing the fully vaccinated commuters to travel via local trains.
Meanwhile, there are a few citizens who have been waiting for the state government to resume local train services for general unvaccinated passengers.
Considering the fear of anticipated third wave of coronavirus and delta plus variant cases, it seems unlikely for the government and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to ease movement restrictions on the unvaccinated population.
