In the midst of the pandemic, the western suburbs have been witnessing a rise in the cases of coronavirus in the city of Mumbai. According to sources, in the western suburbs, Malad has the highest number of patients suffering from coronavirus.

As per the data released by BMC, a total of 6,583 people have fallen victim to the coronavirus in Malad till July 25. In Dahisar, a total of 2,616 patients have tested positive for COVID-19 till July 25. On the other hand, the total number of patients in Borivali has reached 4,994 till July 26 whereas the total number of COVID-19 patients in Kandivali has reached 4,780.

With the advent of the pandemic, newer technologies such as door-to-door screening and smart helmet screening to contain the spread of the coronavirus has been introduced. Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Monday, July 27, witnessed 7,924 fresh cases along with 227 deaths, as per the state bulletin. The state also reported 8,706 patients recovering from the disease in the past 24 hours taking the cured tally to 2,21,944 cases. Maharashtra which still tops all states with regards to the COVID-19 infections has 3,83,723 cases and 13,883 fatalities

In the city of Mumbai, the cases of coronavirus cases jumped to 1,10,129 on July 27, after 1,033 people were diagnosed with the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, as per the civic body. The number of active cases, those currently undergoing hospital care, happens to be 21,812. On the other hand, 39 patients succumbed to the disease in the city which took the death toll to 6,129.

Meanwhile, the BMC speaking about the pandemic has asserted that the doubling rate in Mumbai is now 68 days while the rate of growth on new cases between July 20 and 26 is 1.03 per cent. The number of tests done until July 26 is 4,85,563 with a test positivity rate of 22.68 per cent and the number of containment zones in the metropolis being 636.
