The 117-year-old building came down crashing in Bhendi Bazaar on Thursday morning leaving 34 dead and 17 people were injured. Among the dead ones, was 35-year-old, Sakina Chashmawala who was five months pregnant. She was all set to leave for Dubai but fate had different plans. 

After the building collapsed, Sakina Chashmawala lost her life along with her husband Abbas Nazmuddin Chashmawala and her three-year-old daughter Ahmadtullah. But, her nine-year-old daughter Zenab and her 63-year-old mother-in-law Tasleem Chashmawala survived the collapse.

Sakina succumbed to her head injury in the hospital during her treatment. Doctors couldn’t save her baby as well.

I was on my way to dargah when I got the news of collapse. Sakina was my daughter’s sister-in-law. It was unfortunate as she had plans to leave for Dubai," Ismail Bharmal, relative.

On Thursday, a five-storey Hussainiwala building collapsed in Bhendi Bazar area leaving 34 people dead and 17 people injured. Rescued people were sent to J J Hospital for the treatment. 10 fire brigade teams and 43 member team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) carried out the rescue operation.
