On Thursday, December 9, Pune’s first case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, tested negative, highlighted reports. Dr Sanjeev Wavare, assistant medical officer of Pune Municipal Corporation, Maharashtra, on Friday, December 10 added how the patient tested negative in his RT-PCR test. Wavare mentioned that he is likely to return home on Friday, reported news agency ANI.

According to reports, the 40-plus aged, male patient mentioned that he was happy to go home. Furthermore, the patient remarked on how the officials tested 40 others who came in direct contact with him.

Based on accounts, the patient added that no one else tested positive and that he had taken the second jab of the vaccine in June. The patient was asymptomatic and is anticipated to be discharged on Friday. Moreover, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday mentioned that five from the seven Omicron positive patients in Pune have now tested negative.

Wavare, on the other hand, remarked that so far only one case of Omicron was reported in Pune city. Moreover, he said that after 10 days of quarantine, on Thursday the patient was tested again. In this, he tested negative and will be discharged on Friday.

As of Thursday, no additional case of Omicron was reported in Maharashtra, with this, 10 cases of the new variant have been registered in the state. To tackle the new variant, field surveillance of all international passengers who arrived in Maharashtra is being undertaken.
