The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) have permitted restaurants and hotels to run with 33 per cent capacity.

Mira-Bhayandar is a city and a municipal corporation in Thane district in the state of Maharashtra. While unemployment has been a huge point of contention, most big businesses are demanding to resume operations at the moment.

On Thursday, August 6, 119 fresh cases of the coronavirus were recorded in the area, while 7 people succumbed to the disease. So far, 9,075 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the Mira-Bhayandar area, while a total number of 298 people succumbing to the contagious illness.

Earlier in July, MBMC Commissioner Vijay Rathod permitted shops to be functional based on the odd-even formula. However, this was only permitted in areas where the number of cases is not high.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs had issued fresh guidelines for the third phase of Unlock, which has kicked in from August 1. The process of phased re-opening of activities has been extended and ensures further dilution of the coronavirus-induced lockdown. Despite Unlock 3, strict lockdown will be enforced in containment zones across the country until the end of August. The third phase of Unlock has also eased up the night curfew norms that were imposed in the past.

The MHA has further stated that the national directives for COVID-19 management should be followed across the country in order to maintain social distancing. Moreover, marketplaces will need to maintain adequate physical distancing among customers. The MHA is also said to closely observe the effective implementation of the national directives.
