Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has come forward as a cleanliness mascot for ward M-East which comprises of Deonar and Govandi. He launched 'Mission 24' along with BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta and urged Mumbaikars to do their best to keep the city clean. The project was launched in collaboration with Apnalaya and Mumbai First.

Out of 24 administrative wards, ward M-East has no access to health, education, sanitation and open spaces. Adding to this list, Mumbai's dumping yard falls in Deonar which is part of this ward which poses health issues in the area.

I will do everything I can as a cleanliness mascot. Residents saying here throw out waste from their window which is not right. And so, I have taken the initiative to make them understand the repercussions of their actions. I cannot bring in a change in a single day, will keep working towards it. This is like a cricket match which we have to play. We will bring change if we work together,” Sachin Tendulkar.
