In a bid to maintain law and order during the upcoming Ganpati festival, the Pune district collector issued a crucial order on Monday. The decision came following a recommendation from the Excise Department and is aimed at ensuring a peaceful celebration. This article highlights the key aspects of the order and its implications for the festival.

Liquor Shops Shut for Three Days

The official order mandates the closure of all liquor shops within the Pune district for three days. On September 19th, which marks Ganesh Chaturthi, and on September 28th, the day of immersion, these liquor establishments will remain closed throughout the entire day. Additionally, liquor shops will also be shuttered on the 5th and 7th days of immersion until the immersion process is completed in their respective areas.

Strict Penalties for Violations

District collector Rajesh Deshmukh emphasized that strict penalties would be imposed on anyone found violating the order. The measures have been enacted under the Prohibition Act of 1949, and this official notice leaves no room for leniency. All licenses related to the sale of liquor, including FL-2, FL-3, CL-3, FLBR-2, Form-E, Form-E-2, and Vat. D-1, are to be suspended on the specified days and in the designated areas.

Special Measures for Pune Municipal Corporation Areas

In areas under the jurisdiction of the Pune Municipal Corporation, further measures have been put in place. Liquor shops located along the immersion procession route will remain closed on September 29th. This closure will persist until the immersion of all idols is completed. The aim is to ensure a smooth and trouble-free procession and immersion experience.

Legal Consequences for Violators

Authorities have appealed to the public to celebrate the Ganesh festival responsibly while maintaining law and order in their localities. It is crucial to adhere to these regulations, as anyone found violating the order will face legal consequences. The district collector's office has taken these steps to ensure a peaceful and harmonious celebration of the Ganpati festival, prioritizing the safety and well-being of all residents.
