According to latest reports, a massive fire broke out in a timber godown in Thane district of Maharashtra in the wee hours of Tuesday, April 26. While the godown was completely gutted in the fire, no casualties have been reported so far fortunately.

Officials stated that the blaze erupted around 2.30 am in the godown located near a school in Rahnal village of Bhiwandi town, Thane Municipal Corporation's (TMC) regional disaster management cell chief Avinash Sawant said.

As soon as the incident was reported, three fire engines were rushed to the spot and the blaze was doused after four hours. The cooling operations are underway, officials added.

However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Lately, there has been a considerable rise in the number of fire mishaps reported across the city. It has been observed that these accidents are majorly identified in the residential buildings across the state including Mumbai.

In similar instances, on March 8 a fire was reported to have broken out at a scrap godown in Maharashtra's Thane. The godown was located near the HP petrol pump on the Shilphata-Mahape road, reported news agency ANI.

Meanwhile, a fire had erupted in a furniture godown in the Bhiwandi area of Thane district on January 28. The fire then spread to three more godowns in Sumaras Chamunda Complex.

Moreover, fire incident took place twice within a week at Notan Villa in Khar, Mumbai, reports stated.
