With the Maharashtra government deciding to impose a lockdown across Mumbai, several business owners have reportedly been angered as an atmosphere of confusion has been created amongst all traders in the state.

Even though the rules issued by the state government had made it clear that shops other than essential services would be closed only on weekends, however, without prior notice, the Mumbai Police ordered the closure of all shops.

Meanwhile, the shops will remain closed till April 30, which is likely to cause huge losses to the business community. Therefore, once again, there is a demand from the business community and political leaders to issue new regulations.

On the other hand, after the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray imposed stricter restrictions in the state, Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday, April 6, wrote a letter urging him to reconsider it to save the lives of commoners.

The former Chief Minister stated that there was unrest among people and small businesses over the COVID-19 curbs for which the state government should speak to stakeholders again. In a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the BJP leader said that the MVA government, spearheaded by CM Thackeray, should talk to small businesses and the general public and issue revised guidelines. This development comes amidst the shopkeepers and hoteliers across the city protesting against the mini-lockdown imposed for a month which has the potential to harm their businesses.
