On Thursday, May 27, Nagpur Regional Meteorological Department has predicted light showers and gusty winds are likely in some parts of East Vidarbha in the next two to three days. Meanwhile, the Pune Observatory has forecast torrential rains in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Nanded, Latur, Akola, Kolhapur, Amravati and Jalna districts.

Moreover, cloudy weather prevailed in many parts of the state and light rain showers were witnessed yesterday, May 27, in cities like Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Pune.

It is pertinent to note that the Nisarga cyclone, which took place last year and now the Yaas cyclone, both did not hit the intensity of the sun in Vidarbha till the end of May. The storm has created a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. So the north and northwest coasts have been warned of the danger.

Although the cyclone did not threaten the coast of Maharashtra, an alert was issued in some parts of Odisha. As the cyclone travels from West Bengal to Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh, it is likely to receive light rains and strong winds.

Moreover, last week, due to cyclone Taukate, Mumbai and coastal areas of Maharashtra were hard hit and caused damage to structures and horticulture in the state.
